Banff Springs Hotel

Sir William Cornelius Van Horne was the inspiration behind the building of the Canadian Pacific Railway and its grand railway hotels. After the completion of the Banff Springs in June 1888, Van Horne knew that he had built a magnificent castle in the Canadian Rockies.

Dorothy Carleton, 89 and going strong. Her secret to staying young and vibrant is to walk everyday (uphill too) in her home town of Banff.  She moved here from England with her husband in 1948. She said that the adjustment from living in a city in
