Day 136 of a 365-Day Portrait of Canada: A Walk Through the Streets Quebec City

Quebec is the only province where snow tires are mandatory and with reason! Out of all the provinces I’ve ever been to, only BC comes close to the amount of snow Quebec receives. Everywhere you go in Quebec city snow is piled six feet high, yes six feet high. Park benches and trash cans are covered, with just the tops poking out of the snowy drifts.

Without his toque on the snow would be higher than this proud shoveler. With 20 centimeters of snow on its way this week it’ll be interesting to see where the next batch of flakes will go. Snow wars? One thing is certain, the Quebecois are possibly the toughest bunch of folk amongst all Canadians.

Park bench anyone? Better bring a shovel. Unfortunately by the time you shovel out this bench, it’ll be time to turn around and go home.

That’s a trash can down there…watch your step! If your foot goes through the snow on the way to the trash the snow will be up to your knee.

The one of the Pizza joint really made Francois homesick. We are really loving that you are back in Quebec. Poor you with all that snow! Ca suffit!

“Out of all the provinces I’ve ever been to, only BC comes close to the amount of snow Quebec receives”..

1). I find this statement hilarious.. have you ever been to Ontario?!?

2). You may want to edit your statement to NORTHERN BC because I have lived in Vancouver for 8 years now and have seen only 1 bad snow fall that was only like 4 inches deep and lasted a week, otherwise we may get a dusting here and there, or none at all. It’s too warm here for that!
